Stone Island Badge, Patch or Emblem: What’s the Difference?
Share
When you’re looking to replace or buy the emblem of a Stone Island garment, you come across different words: badge, patch, emblem, sometimes “compass” or “compass rose”. Do they mean the same thing? Almost always, yes. Here’s how to find your way.
Badge
This is the most common word for the removable piece attached to the left sleeve. When you read “Stone Island badge”, it refers to this piece, with its design and fastening buttons.
Patch
“Patch” is the English word for an embroidered piece of fabric. On international websites and marketplaces, you’ll often see “Stone Island patch” or “compass patch”. It’s the same piece, although some sellers also use the word for a sewn-on, non-removable emblem.
Emblem
“Emblem” is a more formal word for an embroidered piece attached to a garment. It’s used less often for Stone Island, but it appears in many searches and listings.
Compass or compass rose
The emblem’s design is often described as a compass or compass rose. These are everyday names, not official references.
Why it matters for your searches
Sellers don’t all use the same word. To avoid missing anything, try several wordings: “Stone Island badge”, “Stone Island patch”, “Stone Island emblem”, and add the colour if needed (black, khaki, tonal) or “authentic” / “compatible”.
Authentic or compatible: the real difference
The vocabulary (badge, patch, emblem) says nothing about where the piece comes from. What matters is whether it is authentic (an original part) or compatible (made to attach to the garment, without being an original product). At Crest, you’ll find authentic second-hand badges and compatible badges, always described for what they are.
