Real or Fake C.P. Company Lens? Bubble and Badge Guide

On a C.P. Company jacket, the lens and its small “bubble” (the lens button) are among the most recognisable details. They are also copied. Here’s what to look at, and how to deal with a damaged lens button.

What to look at on a lens button or badge

  • The marking: crisp, well centred, with no smudging or misalignment.
  • The material: clean resin, with no air bubbles or uneven edges, and a smooth, even surface.
  • The fastening: solid and snug, with no play.
  • Overall condition: a button that is scratched or faded from use is not a sign of a counterfeit — that’s just life for a garment that gets worn.

One detail proves nothing

Both the lens and the lens button can be imitated. To authenticate a C.P. Company item, cross-check several clues: the Certilogo (available since the Spring-Summer 2019 season), the labels, the fabrics and the finishing. Our complete guide: how to spot a fake C.P. Company.

Original or compatible lens button?

As with Stone Island badges, there are two different things:

  • An original part is made by the brand.
  • A compatible part is made by another manufacturer to replace a lost or damaged component. It is not an original C.P. Company product and must never be presented as one.

At Crest, the black lacquered lens button and the goggle lenses are labelled as compatible with C.P. Company.

Replacing a scratched or faded lens button

If your lens button is damaged, you can replace it without touching your jacket’s fabric. The method is explained in our installation guide. To choose the right part, have a look at our shop.

Crest is an independent website with no connection to C.P. Company. C.P. Company is a trademark of its owner, mentioned here for information only. So-called “compatible” parts are not original C.P. Company products.
